June 22–28
Larry Seminoff Division
Grand Forks Slag Dusters
For the third straight year there will be an official host team at the GFI. And that team is the Grand Forks Slag Dusters. The name harkens back to the 70's and 80's teams that competed in the Boundary League. This year's squad features several Kootenay players and out of towners and will be sure to thrill local fans. A new face will be leading the club this year with Wayne Northcott taking the reigns. Northcott played for the Junior National Team.
Fairbanks Goldpanners of Alaska
The 2025 Champions are back to try to re-claim their title at the 42nd GFI. The 'Panners are in the midst of their 67th season as a franchise. Fairbanks are multi-time champions of the Alaska Summer Baseball League and are fresh off their 120th Annual Midnight Sun game in Alaska. The Goldpanners' history has included many MLB alumni including Dave Winfield, Tom Seaver, Barry Bonds, and most recently Alex Vesia who pitched here in 2019 and joined the LA Dodgers last year.
Calgary Dinger Bat Diamondbacks
Making their fifth appearance at the GFI is the Calgary Dinger Bat Diamondbacks. Jordan Wong leads this team of veteran players who participate in the Foothills Major Baseball Association where the club has had significant success. They are always popular with fans for their outgoing attitudes. They can't be missed when they are in the Blue Monster! We look forward to seeing the giant purple Diamondback Cap!
Everett Merchants
Returning to the Boundary Country are the 2023 champion Everett Merchants. Josh Berry takes the reins as field manager for this year's edition in Grand Forks. He is no stranger to the tournament having pitched for the Studs for many years and going through his rookie campaign as field manager last year. The Merchants also boast a Championship at the National Baseball Congress World Series in 1985.
Gerry Foster Division
Seattle Cheney Studs
Founded in 1954, the Seattle Cheney Studs have been coming to Grand Forks since the tournament's inception in the 70's. They have won our tournament 6 times, the most recent in 2022. They were the runner up in 2025. They have been crowned National Baseball Congress World Series Champion on 3 occasions. Their club holds numerous records in the GFI record books.
Burnaby Bulldogs
The 2014 GFI Champion Burnaby Bulldogs return to the GFI after a year's hiatus. They will be back with a refreshed staff of pitchers and star players from the BC Senior Men's League where they are looking to return to the top. Brandon Chernoff takes the lead this year on the mound and in the dugout — we welcome back the last Canadian Champion of the GFI! Who let the dogs out!
Seattle Black Fins
Three times was the charm for the Seattle Black Fins who won the 40th GFI in their third straight Finals appearance. They are a youthful team who exhibit a great deal of talent. This is their 5th trip to the GFI and they are hoping to repeat the feat! Dave Snell, father of LA Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell, is the field manager.
Northwest Honkers
The Honkers are back! Fan favourites are sure to entertain on and off the field. A mixture of current and former collegiate stars who compete in the Pacific International League. The club is managed by Martin Lawrence. Be sure to look out for them in the Blue Monster each night when they are not on the field. They have loads of merchandise to sell to their amazing fans. Honk Honk!
The official rules of baseball govern all games. Teams may elect to use the designated hitter. NCAA sliding rules are in effect at all bases. There is no instant replay.
All games are nine innings. Round Robin extra innings use MLB modified rules — each team starts with the last batter (who completed an at-bat) at second base. Playoff extra innings use regular baseball rules.
Round Robin home teams are the 2nd team listed in the scheduled time slot. For Money Round games, the higher-seeded team (as determined by tournament rules) is the Home Team.
After the third out of each half inning, teams have 2 minutes to resume play. Umpires will encourage players to conclude warm-ups if they are delaying pace of play.
The 20-second action clock is not used. MLB pick-off rules are in effect — pitchers may throw to a base twice per batter without penalty. A third unsuccessful attempt is a BALK.
Relief pitchers are not required to pitch to a minimum number of hitters.
Catchers and coaches may visit the mound a maximum of 5 times per game. Each team begins extra innings with 1 additional visit, plus any unused trips from regulation play.
An 8-run mercy rule applies to all games including the final. If one team leads by 8+ runs after the trailing team has completed 7 innings (or 6½ innings), the game ends immediately.
If games are postponed or cancelled, the Tournament Rules Committee (TRC) has authority to alter the tournament format or schedule. Their decisions are final.
No roster size restrictions. However, teams may not add any player who was on the roster of a team already eliminated from competition.
Full team rosters must be submitted 30 minutes before the first game of the tournament. Game lineups must be submitted to the Official Scorer 20 minutes before game time. No roster additions after submission.
Protests must be brought to the home plate umpire immediately. The umpire forwards it to the Tournament Protest Committee Chairman. No game continues until the protest is heard. The Committee's ruling is final.
A forfeited game results in a 9–0 win for the opposing team. The forfeiting team surrenders all earnings, if any, to the tournament.
Ties are broken in this order:

1. Head-to-head result
2. Runs allowed / innings played defensively (vs. tied teams only)
3. Runs scored / innings played offensively (vs. tied teams only)
4. A 5-inning head-to-head game between the bottom 2 clubs of a 3-way tie
This is a wood bat tournament. Composite bats are permitted.
Any player ejected from a game is subject to further discipline at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.
